Light and flavorful shrimp lettuce wraps made with tender sautéed shrimp, crisp vegetables, and a savory sweet glaze, all tucked into fresh butter lettuce cups.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, about 450 grams, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large head butter lettuce, leaves separated and washed
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 3 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, and fresh lime juice. Set aside.
  3. Add olive oil to the hot skillet and sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add shrimp in a single layer and season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Cook shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  6. Pour in the sauce mixture and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy.
  7. Remove from heat and gently stir in diced red bell pepper, shredded carrots, and sliced green onions.
  8. Spoon the warm shrimp mixture into butter lettuce leaves and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Pat shrimp dry before cooking for better searing.
  • Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender.
  • Store shrimp mixture and lettuce separately for best freshness.
