Tender strips of beef seared until caramelized and coated in a glossy orange soy glaze. Sweet, savory, and perfectly balanced with fresh citrus and garlic, this quick stir fry is ideal for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced into strips
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest, finely grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium high heat.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, cornstarch, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Add olive oil to the hot skillet.
  4. Add the beef strips in a single layer and sear for 2 to 3 minutes without moving them too much to develop caramelized edges.
  5. Flip the beef and cook another 1 to 2 minutes until nearly cooked through. Add minced garlic and sauté briefly.
  6. Pour in the orange soy mixture and let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper browning.
  • Whisk the sauce well before adding to the skillet.
  • Let the glaze simmer gently to thicken properly.
