Crispy golden orange chicken fries coated in a sweet and tangy citrus glaze. Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfect for dipping or serving over rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken, cut into fry shaped strips
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F.
  2. In one bowl, combine all purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Place beaten eggs in a separate bowl.
  4. Dip each chicken strip into the egg, then coat thoroughly in the flour mixture.
  5. Fry chicken strips in batches for 4 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine fresh orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  8. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
  9. Toss the fried chicken strips in the orange sauce until evenly coated and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Pat the chicken dry before coating for better crispiness.
  • Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
  • Toss in sauce just before serving to keep the coating crisp.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 375°F for best texture.
