Crispy jalapeño cheese sticks with a golden breadcrumb coating and a gooey mozzarella center infused with fresh jalapeño heat. Perfect as a spicy appetizer or party snack that delivers crunch and melt in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks, about 20 grams each
  • 2 medium fresh jalapeños, finely diced and seeds removed
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 liter vegetable oil, for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Pour the vegetable oil into a deep pot and heat to 175 C.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the finely diced jalapeños with a pinch of the salt and black pepper.
  3. Set up three bowls, one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with the remaining salt and black pepper.
  4. Press a small amount of diced jalapeño onto each mozzarella stick.
  5. Roll each stick in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.
  6. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more for a thicker crust.
  7. Place the coated sticks on a tray and freeze for 30 minutes.
  8. Fry the frozen sticks in hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  10. Serve immediately while the cheese is hot and melty inside.

Notes

  • Freezing before frying helps prevent the cheese from leaking.
  • Maintain steady oil temperature for even browning.
  • Double coating ensures a thicker, crispier crust.
