Soft and fluffy homemade naan made with yogurt for tenderness, cooked in a hot skillet until golden and brushed generously with melted garlic butter and fresh parsley.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yogurt, olive oil, and the yeast mixture, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 1 hour until slightly risen.
  4. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and roll each into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium high heat and cook one naan at a time for 1 to 2 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook another 1 to 2 minutes until golden spots appear.
  6. Mix melted butter with minced garlic and brush generously over the warm naan.
  7. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Let the dough rest fully for soft and fluffy texture.
  • Use a hot skillet to create signature bubbles.
  • Brush garlic butter while naan is still warm for maximum flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat in a skillet.
