Din Tai Fung Chocolate Dumpling Dupe

A homemade dupe of chocolate soup dumplings with a tender wrapper and molten chocolate ganache center.

Ingredients

  • 20 round dumpling wrappers
  • 150 grams dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Set up steamer with water and bring to a gentle simmer.
  2. Heat heavy cream until warm and pour over chopped chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth and mix in sugar.
  3. Chill ganache until firm enough to scoop.
  4. Line steamer basket with parchment paper.
  5. Spoon a small portion of chilled ganache into each wrapper and pleat tightly to seal.
  6. Steam for about 8 minutes until wrappers are tender and filling is warm.
  7. Dust lightly with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Chill filling well before wrapping
  • Seal dumplings tightly to prevent leaking
  • Steam gently, not at a rolling boil
