Crispy Chicken Cheese Waffle Sandwich

- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 cups all purpose flour (for waffles)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, sliced or shredded
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup honey mustard sauce
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and preheat waffle maker.
- Marinate chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- Mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in a bowl.
- Coat chicken in seasoned flour and fry 6 to 8 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked.
- Prepare waffle batter by mixing eggs, milk, flour, baking powder, and melted butter. Cook waffles until golden.
- Place cheese over hot chicken to melt slightly.
- Assemble sandwich with waffle, cheesy chicken, lettuce, honey mustard, and top waffle. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the skillet when frying.
- Toast waffles lightly before assembling.
- Let fried chicken rest on a rack to stay crispy.
