  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Shape the dough into thin fry-like strips about 3 inches long and place them spaced apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring and serving.

Notes

  • Chill the dough briefly if it feels too soft to shape.
  • Do not overbake, the centers should remain soft.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of flaky salt on top before baking for extra flavor.
