Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, about 115 grams
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius and grease a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until mostly smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter until fully combined.
  4. Add granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together all purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for the best flavor and sweetness.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread soft and tender.
  • Store tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze sliced portions for up to 2 months for easy grab and go servings.
