Fluffy, buttery cheddar herb biscuits with golden tops, tender layers, and pockets of melted sharp cheddar. Perfect as a savory side, snack, or breakfast addition.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 3/4 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together all purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold cubed unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in shredded sharp cheddar cheese, chopped fresh parsley, and chopped fresh chives.
  5. Add whole milk and mix gently until a slightly shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat to about 1 inch thickness.
  7. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  8. Place biscuits on prepared baking sheet close together for a taller rise.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until tops are golden brown.
  10. Brush lightly with melted butter if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Keep butter very cold for flaky layers.
  • Handle dough gently to keep biscuits tender.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder to the dry ingredients.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes to restore freshness.
