Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, from about 3 to 4 lemons
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon activated charcoal powder, food grade
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 4 to 6 thin lemon slices

Instructions

  1. Chill a pitcher in the refrigerator for 10 minutes if desired.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the activated charcoal powder with 2 tablespoons of water until completely dissolved and smooth.
  3. In the chilled pitcher, combine fresh lemon juice and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves fully.
  4. Add the remaining cold water and the dissolved charcoal mixture to the pitcher. Stir thoroughly until evenly colored.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed, stirring again to ensure uniform color.
  6. Add ice cubes and lemon slices to the pitcher or individual glasses.
  7. Pour into glasses and serve immediately while cold, stirring before serving if needed.

Notes

  • Use only food grade activated charcoal.
  • Stir well before serving, as charcoal may settle.
  • Adjust sugar to taste for a sweeter or tarter drink.
  • Store refrigerated for up to 2 days and stir before serving.
