Soft and tender banana chocolate cookies made with ripe bananas, brown sugar, and melty chocolate chips, perfect for an easy homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup or 240 grams)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (113 grams)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (150 grams)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour (190 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (130 grams)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C or 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and smooth.
  3. Add the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  7. Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 5 cm apart.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set but still soft.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for the best flavor.
  • Do not overmix the dough to keep the cookies tender.
  • Slightly underbake for a softer center texture.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
