Crispy on the outside, cheesy and veggie-packed on the inside, these Veggie Cheese Sticks are a crowd-pleasing snack or appetizer that’s easy to make and fun to eat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar blend)
  • 1 small grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornflour
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cheese, carrot, bell pepper, cabbage, flour, cornflour, salt, pepper, and chili flakes.
  3. Add a little water to form a soft dough.
  4. Shape into sticks and roll in breadcrumbs to coat.
  5. Chill the sticks in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  6. Fry until golden and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per batch.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dip.

Notes

  • Freeze shaped sticks for later use and fry directly from frozen.
  • Use fresh, firm veggies for best texture.
  • Try air-frying or baking as a healthier alternative.
