Scale
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1/2 cup strawberry puree
Pink gel food coloring, a few drops
2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
Instructions
Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease cake pans.
Combine Ingredients: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla. Alternate adding dry mix and milk until smooth. Divide batter into four bowls.
Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Leave one batter plain, mix strawberry puree into one, and tint the remaining two with different intensities of pink. Pour into pans.
Assemble the Dish: Bake layers for 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on racks.
Cook to Perfection: Whip cream cheese, powdered sugar, and heavy cream until fluffy for frosting.
Finishing Touches: Level cake layers, stack from darkest to lightest, spreading frosting between layers. Apply crumb coat, chill, then frost smoothly.
Serve and Enjoy: Slice to reveal ombre layers and serve with fresh strawberries or sauce.
