Tender chicken pieces coated in a glossy honey garlic sauce, served over fluffy rice for a comforting sweet and savory skillet dinner that comes together in just 35 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 ½ cups uncooked white rice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the white rice according to package instructions in a separate saucepan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, chicken broth, and minced garlic until combined. In a small cup, mix cornstarch with water until smooth.
  3. Add olive oil to the hot skillet. Season the chicken pieces with salt and black pepper.
  4. Place the chicken in a single layer in the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken evenly.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve the sticky chicken over warm cooked rice and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes while the sauce simmers.
  • Let the sauce simmer undisturbed briefly before stirring to help it thicken properly.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
