A creamy and savory Spinach Quiche with a buttery, flaky crust. Perfect for brunch or any meal of the day, packed with fresh spinach and delicious flavors.

Ingredients

  • Pie Crust: 1 (9-inch) – A buttery, flaky crust that holds all the delicious filling together.
  • Fresh Spinach: 4 cups – Adds vibrant color and fresh flavor to the quiche.
  • Eggs: 4 large – Forms the base of the custard filling, giving it structure and richness.
  • Heavy Cream: 1 cup – Adds a creamy texture to the custard, making it smooth and rich.
  • Milk: ½ cup – Lightens the filling while still maintaining its creamy consistency.
  • Onion: 1 small, diced – Provides a mild, sweet flavor to complement the spinach.
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced – Adds depth of flavor with a subtle, aromatic kick.
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste – Essential for seasoning and balancing the flavors.
  • Nutmeg: ¼ tsp – A pinch of nutmeg adds a warm, aromatic note to the filling.
  • Parmesan Cheese: ¼ cup – Adds a savory, nutty flavor to the quiche and helps form a golden top.

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place your pie dish or tart pan on a baking sheet for easy handling.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a frying pan, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the fresh spinach and cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Place the pie crust in the prepared dish and gently press it into the edges. Use a fork to prick the bottom of the crust a few times to prevent it from puffing up during baking. Blind-bake the crust for 10 minutes.
  4. Assemble the Dish: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in the sautéed spinach mixture and Parmesan cheese. Pour the mixture into the partially baked crust.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Bake the quiche in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
  6. Finishing Touches: Let the quiche rest for 5-10 minutes to set before slicing. This helps the filling firm up, making it easier to slice.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Spinach Quiche warm or at room temperature. Enjoy it with a light salad or as part of a larger brunch spread!

Notes

  • For extra flavor in the quiche, add a splash of white wine to the spinach mixture.
  • For a fluffier quiche, beat the eggs well before adding them to the custard.
  • Make sure the spinach is thoroughly drained before adding it to the filling to avoid excess moisture.
