Fluffy, buttery, and golden, these homemade Soft Dinner Rolls are the perfect addition to any meal. Lightly sweet and irresistibly tender, they’re easy to make and always a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: 4 cups
  • Milk: 1 cup, warm
  • Active Dry Yeast: 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet)
  • Sugar: ¼ cup
  • Butter: ¼ cup (melted) + 2 tablespoons for brushing
  • Egg: 1 large
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Warm milk to about 100°F (38°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter, egg, and salt, then gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12-15 equal pieces. Shape into balls and arrange in the baking pan.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Finishing Touches: Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter immediately after removing from the oven.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm with butter or honey. Enjoy their soft, fluffy texture fresh from the oven!

Notes

  • Use warm milk (not hot) to activate yeast properly.
  • Brush the tops with butter twice for extra softness and shine.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer.
