Smoked Gouda Fritters with Balsamic Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

Smoked Gouda Fritters are crispy golden bites of creamy cheese, perfectly paired with a tangy balsamic honey mustard dipping sauce for an irresistible appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz smoked Gouda cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (divided)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Dipping Sauce: 1/4 cup Dijon mustard, 2 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  1. Shape shredded smoked Gouda into small balls (about 1 inch). Chill for 20 minutes to firm up.
  2. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with 1/2 cup flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko mixed with paprika and salt.
  3. Dredge each cheese ball first in flour, then egg, then panko until coated.
  4. In a deep skillet or fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry fritters in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. For the sauce, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, and balsamic vinegar.
  6. Serve fritters hot with dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Keep fritters warm in a 200°F oven if making large batches.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breading for extra heat.
  • These are best served fresh but can be reheated in an air fryer.
