Soft, fluffy, and golden with a satisfying sesame crunch, this Sesame American Bread is perfect for everything from sandwiches to snacking. Easy to make and endlessly comforting, it brings that bakery-fresh taste straight to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg (for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, and butter until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down dough, shape it, and place into a greased loaf pan or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  10. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • Use bread flour for best texture and structure.
  • Let dough rise fully for a light, airy crumb.
  • Brush with egg wash just before baking for a shiny, golden top.
