Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (230 g) refrigerated croissant dough
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, Gruyere, or mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, beaten (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C or 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the shredded cheese with a pinch of salt.
  3. Unroll the croissant dough and separate it into individual triangles.
  4. Brush each triangle lightly with melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle cheese over the wide end of each triangle.
  6. Roll the dough gently toward the tip to form croissants.
  7. Place croissants on the baking sheet and brush with beaten egg if using.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until puffed and golden.
  9. Let rest for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt.
  • Keep the dough cold until ready to bake for flakier layers.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven to restore crispness.
