Golden, crispy on the outside and melty on the inside, these Potato Cheese Patties are the ultimate comfort snack or side dish. Packed with flavor and easy to make, they’re a crowd favorite you’ll want to make again and again.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 small green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add enough oil for shallow frying.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes and mix in grated cheese, cornstarch, green chili, coriander, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Lightly oil your hands and shape the mixture into equal-sized patties.
  4. Coat each patty in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help them stick.
  5. Fry the patties in batches until golden brown and crisp on both sides, about 2–3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Let them rest for a minute to crisp further before serving.
  7. Serve warm with ketchup, chutney, or dip of choice.

Notes

  • Use cold mashed potatoes for better shaping and binding.
  • Chill patties before frying to help them hold their shape.
  • Air-fry or bake for a healthier alternative.
  • Add herbs or spices to suit your taste preferences.
