Michigan Olive Burger Recipe

A Michigan diner classic — a juicy burger topped with a tangy olive mayo sauce that’s irresistibly salty and savory.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup green olives, chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive brine
  • Lettuce, tomato, and pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Form beef into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook burgers 4–5 minutes per side until desired doneness.
  4. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, chopped olives, and brine.
  5. Toast buns, then spread olive mayo on top buns.
  6. Assemble burgers with optional toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a mix of green and black olives for deeper flavor.
  • Try brioche buns for extra richness.
  • Can substitute Greek yogurt for lighter mayo.
