Lemon Cream Cheese Bread

A moist, tender lemon loaf with a luscious cream cheese filling that tastes like cheesecake tucked inside a citrus-kissed crumb. Perfect for breakfast, tea time, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, milk, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
  4. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until combined.
  5. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Pour half the batter into prepared pan, spread cream cheese filling evenly over it, then top with remaining batter.
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice and zest for the brightest flavor.
  • For neater layers, chill before slicing.
  • Add a lemon glaze for extra sweetness and shine.
