Soft, fluffy dinner rolls sliced into segments, filled with sweetened cream cheese, and soaked in a rich garlic butter custard before baking to golden perfection. This Korean cream cheese garlic bread is sweet, savory, creamy, and irresistibly aromatic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large soft dinner rolls, about 70 grams each
  • 200 grams cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 120 grams unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese with 3 tablespoons granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Place the dinner rolls on the prepared tray. Using a sharp knife, slice each roll into 6 segments like petals, stopping before cutting through the base.
  4. Spoon or pipe the cream cheese mixture evenly into each cut section.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, egg, milk, minced garlic, salt, and chopped parsley until fully combined.
  6. Brush or spoon the garlic butter mixture generously over each filled roll, making sure it seeps into the cuts.
  7. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown and slightly crisp on the edges.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for easy filling.
  • Do not cut all the way through the rolls to keep them intact.
  • For extra cheesiness, sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top before baking.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven for best texture.
