A vibrant iced hibiscus berry drink made with dried hibiscus flowers, fresh strawberries, blueberries, and a touch of lemon. Bold, refreshing, and naturally caffeine free.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup (about 10 g) dried hibiscus flowers
  • 4 cups (960 ml) water, divided
  • 1 cup (about 150 g) fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup (about 75 g) fresh blueberries
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons (30 to 45 g) honey or sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups (about 260 g) ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Bring 3 cups of water to a gentle boil in a saucepan.
  2. Remove from heat and add dried hibiscus flowers. Steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain the tea into a pitcher, pressing lightly to extract flavor.
  4. Stir in honey or sugar while warm until dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining 1 cup of cold water and fresh lemon juice. Stir well.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until fully chilled.
  7. Add sliced strawberries and blueberries to the chilled tea.
  8. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the hibiscus berry tea over the top. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not over steep to avoid bitterness.
  • Adjust sweetness gradually to taste.
  • Add berries just before serving for best texture.
