Soft white bread rolled with a sweet strawberry cream cheese filling, dipped in cinnamon egg custard, pan cooked until golden, then coated in cinnamon sugar for a warm, comforting breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberries, finely chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and finely chopped strawberries until smooth and creamy.
  2. In a separate shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and ground cinnamon until fully combined.
  3. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin and spread a thin, even layer of the strawberry cream mixture over each slice.
  4. Roll each slice tightly into a spiral and dip each roll into the egg mixture, coating all sides lightly.
  5. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt butter to coat the surface.
  6. Place the rolls seam side down in the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning until all sides are golden brown.
  7. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar with a pinch of cinnamon, then roll the warm toast in the mixture until evenly coated.
  8. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the bread to prevent leaking during cooking.
  • Keep heat at medium to avoid burning the sugar coating.
  • Roll tightly for the best spiral shape.
  • Reheat leftovers in a skillet to restore crispness.
