A creamy, flavorful butter chicken inspired by Texas Roadhouse’s buttery comfort food style. Tender chicken simmered in a velvety butter-tomato sauce with simple spices—perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

    • Chicken: 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless breasts or thighs, cut into chunks
    • Olive Oil: 2 tbsp, for searing
    • Paprika: 2 tsp (divided) – adds warmth and color
    • Garlic Powder: 1 tsp
    • Onion Powder: 1 tsp
    • Salt: 1 tsp
    • Black Pepper: ½ tsp

  • Butter: 4 tbsp unsalted
  • Onion: 1 medium, finely diced
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
  • Chili Powder: 1 tsp (optional)
  • Tomato Sauce: 1 cup
  • Chicken Broth: ½ cup
  • Honey or Brown Sugar: 1 tbsp
  • Heavy Cream: ½ cup
  • Fresh Parsley or Cilantro: 2 tbsp, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season & Sear Chicken: Toss chicken with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Heat oil in skillet and sear chicken until golden. Remove and set aside.
  2. Cook Aromatics: Melt butter in the same pan. Add onion and cook until soft. Stir in garlic, paprika, and chili powder.
  3. Build the Sauce: Add tomato sauce, broth, and honey. Simmer 5 minutes.
  4. Make it Creamy: Stir in cream, then return chicken to skillet. Simmer gently 15–20 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Finish & Serve: Season to taste. Garnish with parsley or cilantro. Serve hot with rice, bread, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for extra juiciness.
  • Don’t boil cream—simmer gently for silky sauce.
  • For dairy-free, use vegan butter and coconut milk.
  • Double the sauce if serving with lots of rice or bread.
