Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 ounces firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Brush the lined baking sheet with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  4. Toss the pressed tofu cubes in the cornstarch mixture until evenly coated, then arrange in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. In a small pan, warm the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil and sauté the minced garlic for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant.
  7. Gently toss the baked tofu nuggets in the garlic oil, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Press the tofu thoroughly for maximum crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure even browning.
  • For extra crispiness, broil for the last 2 minutes while watching closely.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes to restore crunch.
