A rich and comforting one skillet creamy spinach chicken orzo made with tender seared chicken, silky orzo pasta, fresh spinach, and Parmesan cheese. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner that feels indulgent yet balanced.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups uncooked orzo pasta
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cups fresh spinach, packed
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.
  2. Season chicken pieces with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Add chicken to the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in uncooked orzo and toast for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring frequently, until the orzo is tender and the sauce thickens.
  7. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Stir in fresh spinach and grated Parmesan cheese. Cook until spinach wilts and cheese melts into the sauce.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Stir frequently while simmering to prevent sticking.
  • Add a splash of broth or milk when reheating to loosen the sauce.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and melt.
