Ingredients

  • Hot Dog Buns: 8 soft buns
  • Beef Hot Dogs: 8
  • Ground Beef: 1 lb
  • Onion: 1 medium, finely diced
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato Sauce: 1 cup
  • Tomato Paste: 2 tablespoons
  • Beef Broth: 1/2 cup
  • Worcestershire Sauce: 1 tablespoon
  • Chili Powder: 2 teaspoons
  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon

  • Cheddar Cheese: 1/2 cup, shredded (optional)
  • White Onion: 1/2 cup, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Heat a skillet over medium heat for the chili. Preheat grill or grill pan for hot dogs.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In the skillet, cook ground beef with onions and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Simmer chili on low for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Grill hot dogs for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through with grill marks.
  6. Finishing Touches: Toast buns lightly, then place a hot dog inside each bun. Spoon chili generously on top.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Garnish with shredded cheddar and diced onion. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use a potato masher while cooking ground beef for fine crumbles.
  • Toast buns to prevent sogginess.
  • Prepare chili in advance—it tastes even better the next day.
  • Serve with fries, onion rings, or coleslaw for a complete meal.
