Cheesy Pickle Bread is a bold and savory loaf filled with gooey cheese and tangy dill pickles. With its golden crust, fluffy interior, and bursts of briny crunch, this unique bread is perfect as a side, snack, or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: 3 ½ cups
  • Active Dry Yeast: 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet)
  • Warm Water: 1 ¼ cups (110°F)
  • Sugar: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Cheddar Cheese: 2 cups, shredded
  • Dill Pickles: 1 cup, chopped and patted dry
  • Garlic Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika: ½ teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and line a loaf pan or baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes. Stir in olive oil, salt, flour, garlic powder, and paprika. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Punch down dough and gently knead in shredded cheddar and chopped pickles. Shape into a loaf or rustic round.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Place dough in pan or on sheet, sprinkle with extra cheese, and bake 30–35 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding.
  6. Finishing Touches: Cool slightly on a wire rack before slicing.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve warm with butter, cream cheese, or pickle dip.

Notes

  • Pat pickles dry before adding to avoid soggy bread.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for best melting.
  • Don’t skip the rise—fluffy texture depends on it.
  • Cool slightly before slicing to allow cheese to set.
