Soft and fluffy Turkish bazlama bread stuffed with gooey melted cheese, cooked on a hot skillet until golden with slightly puffed layers. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or light meals and ideal for serving with yogurt or fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (feta or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, yogurt, salt, and knead until soft, elastic dough forms.
  3. Cover and let dough rest 10–15 minutes.
  4. Divide dough into equal portions and roll each into a circle approximately 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Place shredded cheese in the center, fold edges over, and gently flatten to seal.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook each stuffed bread 2–3 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  7. Brush with olive oil or butter immediately after cooking and serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the bread to avoid cheese leakage.
  • Medium heat ensures the bread cooks evenly without burning.
  • Wrap cooked bread in a clean towel to maintain softness.
