  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, for glaze
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk, for glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl until combined.
  3. Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with a mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  4. Mix dry ingredients into wet on low speed just until combined. Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker, chewier cookies.
  5. Scoop about 2 tablespoons dough per cookie onto prepared sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers look just set. Cool 5 minutes on sheets, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. Whisk powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons milk to make a smooth, drizzleable glaze, adding more milk only if needed. Drizzle over slightly cooled cookies and let set.
