Soft and fluffy black sesame milk bread with a tender crumb and delicate nutty flavor. Perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or enjoying warm with butter.

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups (440 grams) all purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
  • ¼ cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons (7 grams) active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons (45 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds, lightly toasted

Instructions

  1. Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg, butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Fold in black sesame seeds evenly.
  5. Let rise for 1 to 1 ½ hours until doubled.
  6. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9 by 5 inch pan. Let rise 45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 190°F.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • Use a kitchen scale for accurate flour measurement.
  • Do not overheat the milk to protect the yeast.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
