Big Zuu’s plantain cheeseburgers are a flavorful fusion of juicy beef patties, caramelized sweet plantains, sharp cheddar, and zesty toppings, all stacked in a toasted sesame bun—bold, satisfying, and unforgettable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe plantains, peeled and sliced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 sesame seed burger buns
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 cup mixed salad leaves
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 8 pickle slices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease with olive oil.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, onion, coriander, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 patties.
  3. In the same pan, cook plantain slices for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
  4. Cook the beef patties for 4–5 minutes per side until fully cooked. During the last minute, top with cheddar and cover to melt.
  5. Toast the burger buns in the same pan, cut side down, until golden brown.
  6. Spread mayo and mustard on the buns. Layer salad leaves, cheesy patty, caramelized plantains, and pickles.
  7. Top with the remaining buns, press gently, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use ripe plantains with dark spots for best caramelization.
  • Rest patties for a few minutes before assembling to retain juices.
  • Customize with spicy mayo, avocado, or different cheese options.
  • Patties and plantains can be pre-cooked and stored for easy assembly later.
