This classic Banana Bread recipe is moist, soft, and full of rich banana flavor. Made with ripe bananas, brown sugar, and a touch of vanilla, it’s an easy, one-bowl recipe that’s perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1½ cups)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the Bananas: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: Add melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until fully combined.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Mix the Batter: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Add Extras: Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
  7. Bake: Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use overripe bananas with brown spots for maximum flavor and sweetness.
  • For extra moisture, add 1 tablespoon of sour cream or Greek yogurt to the batter.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
