Crispy, golden baked cheese crackers made with sharp cheddar and simple pantry ingredients. These homemade snacks are flaky, savory, and full of rich cheesy flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, pulse the cheese, flour, butter, salt, and paprika until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add cold water one tablespoon at a time, pulsing until the dough comes together.
  4. Lightly flour your work surface and roll the dough to about 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into small squares or shapes of your choice and poke a hole in the center of each cracker using a skewer.
  6. Transfer the crackers to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden and crisp.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for the best flavor and texture.
  • For extra crispiness, roll the dough thinner and watch carefully while baking.
  • Store in an airtight container once completely cooled to maintain crunch.
  • Add dried herbs or spices to customize flavor.
