A cozy, spiced dessert that brings together tender apple slices and a buttery crumble topping in a flaky crust. This Apple Crumble Pie is perfect for fall gatherings or anytime you crave comfort in dessert form.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 6 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for filling)
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and position the rack in the center.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1/3 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons flour until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Place your pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and trim the edges.
  4. Spoon the apple mixture into the prepared crust, piling it slightly in the center.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine 3/4 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, oats, and cold butter. Mix until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  8. Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor.
  • Chill the crumble topping before baking to keep it crumbly.
  • If the topping browns too fast, cover loosely with foil.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
