Golden, flaky hand pies filled with tender cinnamon apples, cooked quickly in the air fryer for a warm and comforting treat that tastes just like classic apple pie in snack form.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced, about 2 cups
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 sheet refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F for 3 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, and melted butter. Stir until evenly coated.
  3. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  4. Cut the pie crust into circles or squares. Spoon a small amount of apple filling into the center of each piece, fold over, and seal the edges with a fork. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  5. Place the assembled pies in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving so the filling can set slightly.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the crust to prevent leaking during cooking.
  • For extra crunch, sprinkle a small pinch of sugar on top before air frying.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for 3 to 4 minutes to restore crispness.
